The white-pink Cyclamen ( Cyclamen cyprium ) is a perennial plant growing from a tuber, originating from the cedar and beech forests in the mountains of the Kyrenia and Troodos islands (300 - 1200 meters above sea level). The strongly fragrant flowers, which appear in autumn, are white to very light pink with a purple spot at the base. The tall petals with twisted ends have a distinct ear at the base on both sides. The leaves are heart-shaped with coarsely serrated edges, green mottled with silvery spots above and purple below. The flowers bloom in autumn to winter and have 5 upward-curving petals, white to pale pink with a purple spot near the nose. The bases of the petals curl outward into auricles. After pollination, the flower stalks curl and the seeds are borne in round pods, opening with 5 flaps when ripe.
