- Botanical name: Cucumis melo
- The fruit is much smaller than a normal melon , approximately the size of an apple.
- The color of the peel is golden-orange with yellow and red stripes.
- The flesh is white or very pale, the taste is not the main highlight, but it compensates with a unique aroma. A combination of melon, pineapple and shades of jasmine.
- The variety has been known since the Victorian era, when women carried it in their pockets because of its strong aroma.
- Suitable for growing: on a support or outdoors , in warm soil and sun.
Growing recommendations
- Sow indoors 3-4 weeks before the last frost or directly outdoors when the soil has warmed to at least 15 °C . This is usually between April and May .
- When growing as a vine: use a support or net to help it climb and ventilate better.
- Maintain regular humidity , avoid infrequent watering with copious amounts of water.
- The fruits are ready for harvest when the peel is fully colored and the strong aroma of the variety is felt.
