First Mate is an indeterminate large-fruited tomato variety (Beefsteak) , distinguished by its unique color and rich fruity flavor. It was created by crossing the popular Lucky Cross variety with an unknown parent variety, then stabilized by American breeder Millard Murdock.

The plants produce medium to large fruits weighing between 180 and 350 grams , which impress not only with their appearance but also with their fleshy structure. The fruit flesh is dense, juicy and rich in flavor, combining sweet fruity notes with a classic tomato aroma.

The variety is indeterminate and continues to bear fruit throughout the season. The plants reach a height of about 1.8 - 2.4 m and require staking and support for optimal development. First Mate is known for its good productivity and stable fruiting from mid-season until the first autumn frosts.

🌱 Sowing method

Sowing: February – April indoors at a temperature of 20–25°C.

Picking: after the first true leaves form, the plants are transplanted into individual pots.

Transplanting: after the danger of frost has passed and when the weather has become consistently warm.

Cultivation: a tall growing variety that needs stakes, ropes or other support structure.

Distance between plants: 60–80 cm.

Care: regular removal of clumps and providing sufficient water during fruiting.
