Aci Sivri is a classic Turkish chili pepper variety that combines good heat with excellent flavor. Unlike varieties that focus solely on the strength of the spice, Aci Sivri is distinguished by a rich and complex flavor , making it an interesting choice for culinary use.

The plants grow vigorously and produce numerous characteristic long, narrow and slightly wrinkled peppers . The fruits reach approximately 15–18 cm in length . They are initially green, turning red when fully ripe. However, in Turkish culinary tradition, peppers are most often harvested green before reaching full maturity.

The spiciness of the variety is 30,000–50,000 Scoville units (SHU) . The producer notes that natural variation is possible and less spicy fruits are sometimes found, but the characteristic taste is preserved.

Aci Sivri is suitable for both greenhouse and outdoor cultivation . For higher yields, cultivation in a greenhouse is recommended. Seeds can be sown indoors from January to April , at a temperature of 20–30°C . Young plants are taken outdoors approximately at the end of May, after the risk of low temperatures has passed.

As the plants grow stronger, they can be tied to a support and pruned if desired to maintain a more compact shape. An interesting feature is the ability to move the plants to pots in the fall and continue to fruit on a bright window.

💡 Tip from Urban Botaniks: Start Aci Sivri early enough indoors and provide consistent warmth during germination. When growing in Bulgaria, an early start gives the plants more time to develop a strong root system and produce a good harvest during the warmer months.
